The main action proposed by this project is establishment and refurbishment of an IT business incubator that will be accessible to the youth from the seven municipalities of the region of Mitrovica (Zubin Potok, Leposavic/Leposaviq, Zvecan/ Zveçan, Severna Mitrovica/ Mitrovicë e Veriut, Mitrovicë / Južna Mitrovica, Vushtrri/Vucitrn, Skenderaj/Srbica). The incubator will function both as an education center for specialized, vocational training and as a working space for start-ups.
Specific project activities will target youth (18 to 35 year-olds) from the municipalities of the region of Mitrovica, offering them a highly specialized training course in IT technology in partnership with STIKK (Kosovo Association of Information and Communication Technology) and UNICEF Innovations Lab Kosovo. The 6-month training course will equip the youth from this region to access the on-line job market, which given the youth unemployment rate in Kosovo (over 50%) is a unique opportunity for the youth to find employment without leaving Kosovo. The courses will be delivered in English seeking participants from all ethnic groups in the region of Mitrovica thus creating opportunities for meaningful and spontaneous interethnic contact and possible business cooperation. The project team will aim to ensure that no gender is represented below 40% in the training selection. The first generation will have 30 participants.
